Associate Professor Fernando Almas is a MaxilloFacial and Reconstructive Surgeon, with a PhD in Comprehensive Cleft Lip and Palate surgery committed to the care of those affected by facial differences. Dr. Almas offers an energy and drive for pediatric surgery, data-driven solutions, and education that extends beyond the boundaries of Brazil. Fernando volunteers six months a year overseas in different foundations like Smile Train, Operation Smile, Mercy Ships, Operation International, Austin Smiles and Project Harar. He has done over 100 missions – 20 different countries in the past 10 years. Fernando also has authored numerous article, book chapters, and lecture around the globe in places like NYU, Harvard, UFRJ, USP and universities around the world always related to cleft lip/palate and craniofacial surgery.
