Team Operation Restore Vision (ORV) will be returning to Rakai, Uganda for the third time to perform free vision restoring surgery this July. We are very excited to once again answer the call and bring relief to those suffering a life of blindness by providing free surgical care to patients blinded by cataracts. We will be working hand in hand with our Ugandan colleagues and look forward to sharing knowledge and skills that will have a large positive impact on the community for years to come.
Team Restore Vision is led by Dr. Seth W. Meskin who joined the team in 2019. The team consists of multiple talented and dedicated volunteer ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and ophthalmic technicians. Dr. Meskin and his colleagues, Dr. Gaurang Trivedi, Dr. Sushant Chafekar, and Dr. Alexander Barash traveled to Rakai, Uganda in 2019 where they established the first Eye Clinic and Eye Operating Room.
The team returned to Uganda in March of 2022 and performed nearly 200 sight-saving surgeries and helped train local medical professionals about eye care.
