Team Spain will head to Tanzania for the first time in October. Given the Operation International's local partnerships in the country, the team hopes to perform more complex cases, including colon tumors and hiatal hernias. The team will also bring a gynecologist this year to help with uterine fibroids, ovarian tumors, and more.
Team Spain was founded in 2020 by Dr. Carmen Nofuentes who volunteered by herself for one year at Operation International’s base in Ghana. The team continues to carry out an annual mission to several of OI's bases in Africa. They have been to Ghana and Uganda so far and will complete a mission in Tanzania in 2024.
