Team Maryland’s first mission with Operation International was a great success. The team provided 16 total knee replacements in just a few days in Amritsar, India. These patients are all recovering well and have been discharged from the hospital. The life-changing operations will provide greater mobility and quality of life for each of the patients, many of whom are laborers or household helpers who could not afford surgery on their own.
Team Maryland was established by Dr Vivek Sood in 2024 and is based in Ellicott City, MD. Dr Vivek Sood, the team organizer, is planning to lead missions to various countries focusing on several fields including orthopedics, ophthalmology, dentistry, cardiology, and general medicine.
