Team Maryland will head on their first mission trip in February to Sri Guru Ramdas charitable hospital in Amritsar, India. The team, which includes six physicians and assistants, will provide knee replacements for up to 30 patients in just three days. The majority of patients are laborers or household helpers who cannot afford surgery on their own. The knee replacement will allow each patient to improve their functional capacity and earn a living.
Team Maryland was established by Dr Vivek Sood in 2024 and is based in Ellicott City, MD. Dr Vivek Sood, the team organizer, is planning to lead missions to various countries focusing on several fields including orthopedics, ophthalmology, dentistry, cardiology, and general medicine.
