Team UK returned to Ghana for the third time with its largest group of volunteers to date. The total of 16 returning and new medical experts provided life-changing medical care to 136 patients during just five operating days at the local hospital. These cases included both general surgery and pediatric care.
In addition to providing life-changing medical care, Team UK led a one-day Basic Surgical and Laparoscopic skills course for regional doctors while in Ghana. These training opportunities ensure Operation International's impact will last well beyond when mission teams leave the country.
Team UK also finalized plans for a memorial for Craig Mastracci, CRNA, a valuable Team UK member who sadly passed away in February 2021. Craig's family have helped Team UK raise the funds to build a children’s playground next to the paediatric ward. Work will commence in the next few weeks.
