Team New York will travel to Tanzania in May, marking their second time in the country. Team New York launched in 1997 and includes the founders of the organization,. They routinely perform innovative general, pediatric, gynecological, plastic and reconstructive procedures on their trips.
Operation International’s Team NY carried out their first mission to Tanzania in 2016, where the impact they left behind was immense. Since then the team has worked with the local charities and different localities to establish a permanent base there where other teams could go on annual basis. In 2023 a new hospital was built, Lake Tanganyika District Hospital, to serve the communities living near Katavi National park, but the hospital lacked many of the needed equipment and staff needed training before it can start serving anyone. Operation International procured all needed equipment and Team NY intend to make that hospital one of their bases in East Africa.
